Intro to Mach-II Listeners and the Event Object

As a follow-up of sorts to the Mach-II Quick Start Guide, I wrote an Introduction to Mach-II Listeners and the Event Object, which is now available at mach-ii.com in OpenOffice 2.0 format as well as Microsoft Word format.

This is a GREAT introduction, very well-written and comprehensive.

This is just the kind of thing I've been waiting for. I can't wait to get home tonight and take a fresh look at what you have to say!

Now, if you could just send some warmer weather our way (I live in the twin cities) we would be all set!

Sorry about that Jerry--some kind soul sent me PDF and FlashPaper versions of it yesterday, so I'll get those posted here and see about getting them up on mach-ii.com as well.

Hey Matt,

Great article. VERY timely.

So far, I noticed your cfcomponent has a name attribute with the value LoginListener. When I checked out the docs, I only saw namespace as an attribute of cfcomponenet. Did you use name on purpose? Any reason? See what I am talking about?

Probably just a bad habit on my part--that should probably be displayname. IIRC in 6.1 the displayname attribute would default to whatever you set "name" to, and this is largely used for introspection/documentation purposes. It looks like in 7 the behavior is a bit different and it should be displayname as opposed to just name.
